I have a 40S also. I use it and show it and it never lets me down. Very useful tractor and not for sale either.

If your model 40 is an "all Fuel" DO NOT sell it..!! These are rare.. Only 112 were shipped to the USA, others were exported. Less then 475 were made as fuel burners. This could be the reason he wants it so badly. Is it an All Fuel..??

no it is a gas tractor unless the hood has been changed.

My model 40 doesn't have a specific letter designation on the s/n tag (40T, 40S, 40 V, etc). It just says model 40. It is a wide front tractor and is pretty tall, but not as tall as a high crop. It has factory 3 point, too.

Garry; Check it out. Perhaps there is something unique about your tractor that this guy has noticed. Maybe it was the first one or last one built which would make it desirable to a collector. Or there may be another reason that he has forgotten to mention to you. It would be a shame to learn something about your tractor that makes it special after you sell it!

Here are the 40 series production totals according to my reference.

T = Tricycle = 17,906
S = Standard = 11,814
c = Crawler = 11,689
U = Utility = 5,208
W = Wide = 1,758
V = Special = 329
H = High Crop = 294

Total = 48,998

Hey Gary, Tell him I will sell him one, 3point hitch, and a can to go over the exhaust pipe. I sold two in the last couple months, one was wide front end for $2000.00 and the other narrow front end for $2200.00 it was a little nicer, both units had factory three point hitches.

If he wont take no for an answer, tell him you'll take $16,000 for it. And don't come back without the cash.

Gary, I don't think they are all that rare, but they are somewhat desireable. Pretty good little tractor for its age. All 40"s had 3 point.
