My 51 M runs great but when i put it into 4th gear and pull out the clutch the engine starts popping on one cylinder and after going about 20 feet it slowly begins to go back to 2 cylinders. Does this make any sense. Not to me. Throttle is at full and it still does it. thanks so much for your time

51M, it sounds like it is either running a little too lean [try richening the load screw about 1/4-1/2 turn].
~Or you are losing spark due to higher combustion chamber pressures under load. [it takes more KV to fire a plug under load than just running under no load & if the plugs are marginal for fouling the spark will just travel down the center electrode & won't jump the gap]
~Start with a new set of spark plugs & if that doesn't help, richen the load needle 1/2 turn, if that doesn't help open the point gap slightly, if that doesn't help try new solid core ignition wires.
~After you try the above, if it still acts up post back, but I'm thinking the new plugs or richening the load needle will help it.
~As a quick check, try launching it in 4th gear with the choke 1/4-1/2 on & see if that helps, if so a load needle adjustment will probably help....
