I'm lookin for an online manual for STX38 Lawn Tractor. Also maybe ya can tell me is there a switch ya have to pull or something to be able to disengage the hydrostatic drive so ya can push it in neutral? Any help would be appreciated. I just bought this thing from a woman who had no manual and no idea how to work it. Thanks, Chris....

I've got a 1994 STX 38 Hydro. There is a lever under the rear axle near the left rear tire. Turen it 90 degrees and it'll lock into position and it'll be in neutral. Turn it back and it'll be ready to drive around.

Hope this will help you.

I know this lever your talkin about to get it into neutral. I moved it to its stopping position and it did roll freely. However, I had to manually hold it in this position. Maybe if I push hard on it it'll "lock in" like your talkin about. I was only moving it about 45 deg. Thanks man, I'll try it out..
Do your still use a Kohler oil filter or have you found a Fram that will work? Thats my next journey.

I don't know of any online manual source, but your local JD dealership can get an operator's manual for you pretty reasonably. As far as disengaging the hydrostat, there should be a little L-shaped rod sticking out of the back of the mower between the rear wheels. Pull out on that to disengage the hydro. It probably still won't roll very easily, but you will be able to move it.
