Jack, assuming the flywheel is tight, my first guess is that either the flywheel or the clutch disk is out of time. Each has to be on the correct spline on the crankshaft, or you are out of balance and can get a healthy vibration. Since the clutch disk is usually removed more than the flywheel, I suspect it first and its V mark has to be lined up with the mark on the crankshaft. Some dont realize that BOTH the flywheel and cluth disk are built purposely out of balance, but each out of balance heavy side is 180 opposite from the other to reduce harmonic vibration across and through the heavy crankshaft. Hence, if either is installed on the wrong spline, you get a bad vibration. Good Luck Ol John T in Indiana

JD is right on with his suggestion. You could also have a flywheel problem, as I believe it has to be installed in a specific position also.
My I&T manual says the following. "When reinstalling flywheel make certain that pin in flywheel aligns with notch in spacer and flywheel is installed in correct position on shaft and securely tightened. Deep keyway of flywheel should be placed over locating screw on shaft; or if wheel hub carries a rivet, the rivet should engage with cutaway spline on shaft". I'm not sure which part of those instructions will apply to your B, but you should have one of those arrangements. The flywheel will be the easiest thing to check first, as checking the clutch driver will require disassembling the clutch.

Is the clutch drive disc lined up properly? Need to match the V to the punch mark or another V depending how it was marked on the crank. This is just a guess but it is where I would start.
