My 1970 3020 Diesel has a squeal in the lift anytime cold or hot. The only position I don't have the squeal is full up. I can lift up on the lift arms by hand a little and the squeal will stop. What do you think? All opinions welcome!

THANKS IN ADVANCE; BARNEY

I would guess the rockshaft control valves are too tight. A couple checks, with the load and depth lever in D or Min. raise the hitch about half way, stop engine, if the hitch drops any, the valves are too tight. With the load and depth lever in D or Min. there should be about 3/16 inch neutral in the control lever between raise and lower, if no neutral, or hard to control netural the valves are too tight. To adjust, remove the plug on the side of the control valve housing, turn screw in to increase clearance. Keep track of how much you turn it, so you can put it back where it was, if that was not the problem. Get a manual and go over all the adjustments.

That's the thermo reliefe valve squealing. It's in the rear cover on top, of the rockshaft valve , see the plug I think it takes a 7/16 wrench or 1/2 . take the plug out and there is a spring ,between the spring and plug there are shims , add 1 or 2 and try it. It should quit. Don
