Just went down to Wal-Mart to buy some mystery oil. I heard it helps your rings and valves. Any of you guys use mystery oil in your JD's? Is there any defects? Thanks

JDM Guy, while it does give some upper end & valve lube & has been used for years by many people as a gas additive, it doesn't burn that clean & tends to settle out if stored for long periods causing fouled plugs when the tractor is removed from storage.
In the past I have used it myself in tractors that weren't used often.
~I have found that a good quality 2-cycle oil will lube just as good if not better & burn much cleaner under combustion..... .

I use it all the time. This is a real old product and reminds me of sewing machine oil. Is a penetrant and works great to free hydraulic valves. Personally I don't think it will do anything for old tractors and I doubt there is any product that would loosen rings in one of these and I'm not sure you want them loosened unless you are removing them. Anyway this is a great product and you may want to check it out.

I use it as a gas additive in all my lawn equipment and JD tractors. I know for sure it helps with lubricating the valves as I had a valve that would stick when hot, after using Marvel Mystery Oil it never stuck again. I think it helps on the old JD's but I've never put in the crankcase.

I'm with you Al,
I used it on a I/O boat engine that had a top chadder, I believe it broke down the carbon build up around the valves. Anyway, after a bit the thing choked and caughed and the chadder went away and thing ran a lot better/with more power.
I put it in my car/truck, van, lawn eq. and tractor as an additive to the gas.
