i recently changed the oil in my tractor and had to wait a week for a oil filter,i know there was half a tank in the gas tank and at least a qtr tank in the fuel tank.anyways got the filter and filled her up with oil, tried to start her and after half an hour it wouldnt start even though i saw gas in the bowl, turns out both the tanks were dry. i had shut off the fuel and turned all the screws in on the carb previous to the oil change. is this sort of common? i thought i had read somewhere that this is common? is it evaporation? wierd? thanks cam

Those new shut off sediment bowls don't always shut off the gas, it is probably in your crankase.Remember JD is getting there part's made in mexico now . Don

don't understand turning in the screws on the carburator???? Those are adjustment screws and have nothing to do with shuting off fuel flow. Also you should check you main shut off for leakage and if carburator is leaking it could flow into the crankcase. If thieves are prevelent a can of hot gas left near the tractor might expose the culprate.
