My 60 had a 3pt but it was sold before I bought the tractor. I am thinking of buying a Saginaw hitch but was wondering if I should look for an 800s type John Deere hitch. Is it better? I am restoring the 60 for use mostly as a work tractor and some show so originality is not an issue. I know there are people who make their own but I am looking for ready-to-put-on-and-run hitches.

Personally I would go the extra mile and get a JD 3 pt It will cost alittle more but in the long run it will make the tractor worth more.

I have an 800-type hitch on my 60 std. high seat. Use to with rotary mower and Pittsburg cultivator for gardening. The hitch is adequate, but is awkward to use with modern implements, and it is a pain in the butt to adjust.

I'll also throw my support in for the Saginaw hitch. I bought one a couple of months ago for my 60 after looking at most of the alternatives, and have drilled about 100 or so fence post holes since then. It's a solid hitch.

TMAC,

I'll second that. I've got a Saginaw 3pt on my JD 60. Good solid parts; it's never caused a problem. Actually it's easier to adjust than the factory 3pt on my JD 1020.

Check to see where the the prices on the 800 /01 hitchs have soared. Then look at the way the Saginaw makes the 800 look willowy. I think you'll find you're paying a few hundred less for the beefy hitch. Not original, but if you're going to work the 60; it's not a real difficult decision.

TMAC, I have seen a lot of different 3-point hitches for the 50-60-70 series Deere tractors & you will have to find something really special to beat the "Saginaw County Tractor" 3-point.
~The Saginaw County Tractor 3-point beats the 800-801 hands down for blade, mower, & most 3-point work. It has excellent sway control & adjustability..... .
