I'm really a Ford guy, but I have let a JD nut friend talk me into buying a JD 430TW. I can get "gobbs" Of Classic paint. Your source is full of BS. I live in Metro Atlanta, however I have found that I can get the real info from the rural JD dealers. I gladly travel 45 mines east or north east to get satisfaction. These metro dealers only know about lawn tractors.

I don't know if it is true but the parts man at my local dealer said that he did a lot of research and went to a lot of shows to find out the truth. What he found out is that JD always used the same color of paint. He said that classic green is for touch up on our older tractors. He said that JD green was and is the same color as it is today. He said JD produces it for the ones that do believe the older tractor paint was a different pigment color and for touch up on unrestored classics that have faded. That's just what I was told.

Most use the regular green, It looks better,
and it doesn't fade or change shade like the classic.

EW,

Go up above to my post about Classic Green. The answers there should help you get your dealer on the right track (if they're willing to help at all).

EW:
I just purchased two cases in quart cans from my local JD dealer. He ordered them for me and it took about a week to get because they have to ship all paint by truck and not UPS. Shipping is more then likely the reason he is BS'ing you about the avaliability.

They don't want to order a case of it to sell you one gallon. I just bought a gallon of clasic green from my local dealer and he also ordered a case of clasic green in rattle cans for touch up. Guess he likes to see the old iron resorected.

I was told that all the lawn and garden tractors are painted in "clasic green" If you look at the big tractors and the L&G tractors, they are not the same green. I live just south of Horicon Wisconsin. Where the L&G tractors are made.

Evidently the dealers you asked, just don't want to fool with you. Classic Green is still available. I buy it on a regular basis from my Deere dealer. I always buy gallons, the quart size may be discontinued, haven't asked in a while.
