Chuck is correct - I recently worked on a 630 power steering system and had no trouble getting the gaskets I needed. I just got on Deere EPC (electronic parts catalog - I'm a JD tech) and pulled up several part numbers from the 720D power steering system. Every gasket and o-ring I checked is still available, as are a lot of the internal hard parts of the pressure control valve, if not all of them. More than likely the parts guy is giving you the run-around because those old gaskets and such come in quantities of 5 or so, and he doesn't want the excess stock sitting on the shelves. If you do a lot of two-cylinder work, take the whole package - you'll probably need them down the road. Or you can make some money on them if they ever do become unavailable. Tell your parts man to try a little harder or you'll take your business elsewhere - the money's all the same, whether the tractor is brand new or 50 years old.
p.s. - When you're done with the system, fill it with JD power steering fluid. Some on this board will tell you not to bother and to use regular hydraulic oil, motor oil, etc, but I wouldn't use anything else. Deere wouldn't bother producing it if there wasn't a reason behind it

I am a JD Tech too, I do parts ordering for the shop as well. I just got back on a treid the JD Point and it worked, earlier it was giving obsolete part errors, anyhow it is working now, found a kit. Server must have been down, must have something to do with everyone else in this town being off, and the JD guys are hard at work, well at least we think we are. Thanks

sounds like your dealer doesn't want to mess with old parts...O rings and regular gaskets should be in stock as I've obtained these in the past. You can make the small gaskets, however orings are a standard item.....
