Trying to find out info on the carb that someone either missplaced at the service center in Moline or somone made off with. My 39 B serial # is 7200 somthing so I think it would be early. It has the flat spokes on rear cutoffs and round spoke on front. Service guy "lost" my original carb after I left it there for 6 weeks to be "rebuilt". What he handed me was a badly beaten up DXLT10 or whatever it calls for and tried to convince me it was mine. The original carb had rust in the bottom of the bowl and I figured they would soak it..... . He SANDBLASTED the threads off and tried to pawn off this carb I`m taking back to them. It failed and leaked and ,supposedly rebiult, qwhen I opened it up it had accumulated rust around the jets and bowl. The tractor just wouldn`t idle. They will be providing me with a new one free of charge when the sun sets tommorow. I was nice about it and after working all weekend and evenings on it only to find out the guy shafted me,I`m ready to fight now, and I never have a problem with service people. I think he may have "missplaced" my good carb that had no prymarks , with one that was a throw away. Any help on info about carbs for an early 39 B would be well apreciated. I talked with a Deere dealer in Geneseo today and the sevice guy said he uses bead blast and wont hurt any of the components. I`m just sick about the whole deal and they are going to eat this one. Been working on it for a year now and there has benn nothing on this tractor that has been abused. I know the carb I dropped off in Moline is different or at least I sure think it was.Now of course he can`t find the original. What started out as an enjoyable hobby has turned me off from trusting people at their word. Little weasle. He also said it would be no charge for the carb he gave me. It was worse than the one I had dropped off.(original)I need to know exactly what carb they will be replacing my original with. Thats the hundred dollar question. An early 39 B Styled with flywheel and Fairbanks and Morse Mag., which he lost one of the screws out off the back where the impulse wheel is.This happened at the Moline Tractor and Plow Showcase & Service center downtown Moline IL.I would have expected professionalism from their multi-million dollar facility.

OUCH!!! That has to hurt Mark. I would think that the Moline Plow facility would be better at service than that! This sounds like someone, one of the chosen, needed a carb for their project or that one of the tractors in the amazing shop needed one. Give McManus a piece of your mind!!!

I haven't had Goodrich do any of my service, have you had good luck there? They have been really good on parts though.

Interesting that you have been dealing with them as I am in Geneseo. Drop me an e-mail and maybe we can get together sometime and compare notes. I have a '35B that I am about ready to put the gas to. Right now I have my Fairbanks-Morse in repair mode. Got it apart to put in new points and condenser I am getting from SEAMO. Have to make the gaskets but I think Earl has me headed in the right direction. Would be curious to know how yours is going.

Mark, sorry to hear about your misfortune. That is why I do as much of my own work as possible.
~According to my data sheets your "B" [under S/N 96000] should have a DLTX-10.....

Thanks guys for the replies. Just returned from the facility and the service manager, Scott is taking care of the problem and will make sure the carb is complete and rebiult. He wont be using the one parts had given to me that was stripped at the stem. He was real good about it and wasn`t aware of what took place. He was gone the week it happened. I have to give him credit, he sparked my enthusiasm back up for the ole Johny. When I submited my post ,had just come in after being gas drenched and sorely dissapointed. Such as life.

Mark, I've known Scott for years, he's good people, and he'll do what he says he'll do. One problem they have there is that the right hand doesn't always know what the left hand does, and things get screwed up. A lot of people want to believe the worst about Moline Tractor and Plow, but they are getting their act together, after getting rid of some of the deadwood, and people who don't have a clue. They know they screwed up initially, and are doing what they can to correct that. I think that eventually, that facility will become a great asset for the hobby.

I think it should be a DLTX34. This was the all fuel carb used on the early styled B's.

AH..... ....NO!!!!! 1941 or 96000 was the first tractor to have DLTX34. He should have DLTX10 like he stated.

Sorry! I ws going by what is on my no serial tag B and what the data book I had said. It doesn't break it down in increments like that. I just did a carb cleanup for a guy with a 1940 B, and he had a DLTX 70 on it. Maybe I misread the stamping, but it sure looked like a 70, and I told him I thought it was the wrong carb for the tractor. Maybe not. I guess I am going to have to start wearing my glasses all the time now. How Depressing!
