Have any idea what the firing order is on this thing?
Are the cylinders numbered 1-2-3 from front to back and where is number one on the distributor cap? Theres no markings on the cap or motor.
Also can't find the timing mark on the front pully.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks
Mark

Mark, my 1020/2020 operator's manual gives the firing order for the 1020 gas as 1-2-3, and yes, they're numbered front to back, #1 in the front of engine. From the photo in the manual, it looks like #1 on the distributor cap should be the one closest to the front of the engine.

The timing mark you're looking for is supposed to be an "S" ... I don't know exactly where it is on the pulley. If you can't find it, let me know and I'll look on my 2020 (when it's daylight) ... I would imagine they're in the same place.

Here's what the book says on how to set distributor timing: "Run engine at 2500 rpm. Loosen the distributor clamps and rotate the distributor until "S" mark on crankshaft front pulley lines up with mark on engine casting as timing light flashes. When distributor timing is correct, tighten the distributor clamps." Good luck! Hope this helps! Cim.
