Hi Folks,

Bought a 1966 model 4020 Power Shift diesel. The 3ph and both remotes are slow as molasses in march, but the PS and transmission both seem to work fine. I've changed the fluid and filters, but no improvement. I'm going to check the hyd. pressure like the I&T manual suggests, but I'm wondering if there are other suggestions while I have her unbuttoned.

Did you check the suction screen in the bottom of the transmission? It's probably full of old brake linings.

Check you're pressure, if it is low and the main pump doesn't seem to be sucking air, then check the stroke control valve in the main pump(front). If it has a groove worn into the seat, pressure is seeping by causing the pump to partially destroke which will cause your pressure to be low and your hydraulics to be slow. If you have more questions, e-mail me or repost. Good luck!
