4020 trouble

I have a early 4020 diesel with syncro transmission. After someone got it stuck, the right rear wheel seems like the brake is on at all times (locked). The tractor will move but the right wheel is binding like the brake is on. Also I think the hydraulic pump up front is making a knocking noise. I got it on level ground and parked it and let it sit for an hour. Then restarted and shortly the knocking stopped and the wheel was free. I cut it off to check hydraulic fuild which was low, filled up with fluid and restarted. Now I'm back to the pump noise and rear wheel locked. Any Ideas? Thanks!

Sounds like a brake pedal valve sticking. You need to put a rebuild kit in complete brake valve housing. The knocking up front could be the pump drive buchings at the front engine pully. Try rocking the pump drive back and forth to check for play. or start the tractor and turn steering wheel back and forth and listen if noise gets quiet. hope this helps

You need to rebuild the brake valve. The valve for the side draging is bad.

Sounds like the brake inlet valve for the locking side is leaking. The valve body assembly is located just forward of the right battery. Make sure the brake pedal is returning all the way, and that play in the linkage of the pedal to the body plunger is not excessive.
