I am considering trading a 1984 IH-584 for a 1987 JD 755 4WD. Would just like some info on what size of Bush Hog the 755 can handle. Also if there any mechanical problems with the 755 4WD. Thanks

Augie584, I have a Deere 755 4WD Diesel. While it is a fine little tractor for mowing, loader work, & blade work, it is a little lacking in horsepower for brush hogging unless you stay at around the 4' level.
~I use a 5' on mine occasionally but unless just doing light weeds or dry grass it will run full out on the governor.
~If hogging with a 5' in tough grass & going up hill I can only take a partial cut. ~If the blades are sharpened before each use it will do ok with a 5' hog, but I don't like sharp blades if cutting small trees or wood growth as sharp blades leave tire piercing stumps [dull blades will shatter the wood & not leave sharp sticks]....

It most likely could handle a 4ft bush hog. I own a 5ft and it would be to big for sure. As far as mechanical problems, small turf tires and it sits a litle low to the ground but over all its a good strong little tractor.
