After setting two days, found about two gallons of coolant in the crankcase. I removed the head and found no sign of water in the cylinders, nice oily film. Can the water get in behind the {crack}piston and are there water jacket holes in the back of the block that are sealed by the crankcase block gasket?

If you have a old Deere dealer, see if they have a push rod puller you could use. If so you don't have to remove head to pull tubs. Make sure your manifols bolt or studs are not to long or they will punch holes in tubs.

Did you check your push rod tubes. Mine did the same thing and I had them replaced. The new tubes from Deere are brass, they can't rust.
Hope this helps, Steve

Steve, guess I'm not familiar with the push rod tubes. Are they in the head or the block or both. Thanks for the reply.

They are in the head. You will probably have to remove the head and have them replaced.
