I am looking at the purchase of a 1955 JD 70 Diesel (w/pony start) Standard with a JD 48 loader in the Midwest. Loader appears in great shape, tractor starts fine, sounds mechanically very good, has new wide tires on the rear, but has some problems.. Needs new brakes, clutch is a little loose, and there is a leak of oil from a seal located under the clutch pully, close to the tractor frame. The guy wants $7000 for the whole unit. Assuming the loader is worth $2000-$2500, is he asking too much for this tractor? Seems to me that he might be, but would like some informed opinions. Please help!

John.....is the tractor located near Minot,ND? If so, it was on E-Bay several months ago. $7000 is a high price for the unit even if the loader is worth $2000.

Yes, it was indeed in Minot, N.D., but is now in Eastern Iowa. I thought $7,000 was a bit much for it, especially with the problems it has. Thanks for the input.
