I looked at the manual, and this looks like a major operation.

The 50 looks good. Yeah soak the lifters with PB or if you have some Gibbs Oil it will work also. You can put brake Fluid in each cylinder and put some heat to the block. It will cause the block to expand and the brake fluid will eat the rust from around the pistons. the pistons will almost just out of the block. Too much heat will cause the block to delaminate. If that happens it would be time to bore and sleeve.

You better get a more solid platform to set the block on and use the flange on the block so the piston area is not blocked from them coming out. Soak the lifters good with PB then try work them back and forth . Is your cam rusted ? very light rust may polish out in tractor with fine emery and light oil if heavy it will have to come out. Does anyone know why the tractor was let setting?
there may be more problems that were the original cause to not use.

I am not entirely sure of this because it was before I was born, but I believe the tractor was left to rust because

1) The tractor was used to fill the silo. The silo hasn't been filled recently.

2) My grandfather had a stroke.

3) My father and uncles preferred the David Brown 990 as it was more fuel efficient, and

4) The 50 overheated. My mother says that she saw my uncle dumping pails of water in the radiator. Perhaps it leaked? The water passages in the block are clogged with rust and mud. Maybe they were 20 years ago. My family doesn't seem to be much for maintaining stuff. My father speculated that it still probably has the original oil in the main case.
