I was told that my flywheel has to much end play and it's moving in and out a little. The flywheel has about a 1/4 inch to 1/8 inch play in it. I was told that to remove the play that the tolerance should only be .005 to 0. So if that is the case I'm in trouble. It is noticeable when the tractor is running and you can watch the fly wheel move in and out very slightly. What is the Fix for this. Also if it makes a difference it is an elec start.Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for your comments.

Dan, loosen the flywheel bolts(Making sure the flywheel moves on the splines), take the pulley clutch cover off, and have someone tap on a block of wood on the pulley end while you push in on the flywheel. Tighten the flywheel bolts. It's a two person job, only because you can't be in two places at once. If you need more clarification, just ask. Oh, as long as you don't move the flywheel too far out after you loosen it, the electric start part shouldn't make any difference.

Crank endplay is controlled by the position of the flywheel on the crank - take the flywheel loose and knock it farther onto the crank. Make sure you get the bolts good and tight when you're done. You might have to have someone push over on the crank from the pulley side or block it some way to be able to move the flywheel over. Endplay should be .005 to .010" - check with a dial indicator.
