Upon digging into my tractor yesterday, I took the valve cover off, then took off the lifter assembly (I guess that's what you'd call it)... while doing that, I broke the little fitting for the oil line. It wouldn't unscrew and ended up just breaking. I'll be taking the head off to replace some gaskets anyway, but my question is... are these little oil line connectors and tubes available from the Deere dealer or can you find them at any auto parts place? Do you think the best method of getting it out is drilling? I just don't want to hurt it anymore than it is...

You can get the part from your John Deere dealer.

Thanks Ben! Depending on the severity of my problem (whether I can make my own fix for it or not), I might just be making a trip over to my Deere dealer.

You can make the lines yourself. Where did you break it off. By the head? I don't know if it is the same, but my 43B, which has a different head. The oil line gets screwed to a block that has a head stud running threw it. The block is being held to the head by the head stud. When you pull the nut off the stud. The block will remove from the head. That block is not part of the head. Are you pulling the block??? Well, I hope this helps.

Thanks Will P! I am pulling the head, but not the block. I broke the oil line off right off against the head (doh!). After reading your thoughts, I'm going to double check my problem tomorrow to verify that that's correct - I believe it is. Thank you for your help!
