My service manual made from John Deere publications. It is great.

Does anyone know what the circle parter dots with a arrow in the center is on the block? It is located on the right side of the block when standing in front of the tractor. I believe it is a date code of some type but I can not figure out what it is telling me.

Will,
There is 16 dots in a circle. I can not find a D or N.

Richard,
I am a Manfacturing Engineer and it is common to track day and shift of product production. Believe it or not you can use the exact same equipment on the different shifts and you will have quality differences that follow a certain shift.

It is telling you the time the block was made. It is a clock. Look for 12 and see where the pointer is pointing. There will be another one right around it that should point to probably "D" or "N" for day and night. Let me know what you find.

Hey Will, Would the MT be similiarily marked, and why would the time of build be worth recording. Is this mark casted, and did they change, use different cast when pouring at night vs the day shift?
