I posted this question below, when I thought the tractor I had looked at was a 1020. It now appears it is a 1010, so I am reposting. The tractor I looked at has the shifter on the console to the right of the steering wheel. How does this operate? When I tried it out I had a hard time getting it into gear, and I think it had more to do with my not knowing the positions of the gears, than the machine. The shift label was pretty worn, but I could make out Park at the top, and what looked like a six at the bottom. Other than that I was flying blind. What is the reputation for the brakes on the 1010? The brakes on this tractor almost didn't work at all. Is this just a case of needing pads or adjusting, or is it a trait of the 1010 to stop by way of a wish and a prayer? The price was $3500. It is a diesel, what kind of rep does the 1010 diesel have? The best thing on the tractor was the power steering, steering this tractor was effortless. The machine also had dual remotes. At one time this tractor was probably the top of the line of the 1010s. Any opinions of the machine, shifting it, brakes, etc would be appreciated.
