What type of solder works best for re-attaching a carb float to the tab?

I've used acid core as well with good success. I've not ever used silver solder, but was under the impression that you had to use more heat to get it to melt and flow. Too much heat on a float can cause you lots of problems.

did 1 the other day with acid core soldering iron it did fine . If you get too much heat it will come apart on you .
