2520 3 point question

I have a 2520 power shift with dual hydraulics and a loader. I put a 5 foot rotary mower on the 3 point last week to mow a few ditches. My problem is if I moved the 3 point lever more than a tiny bit the 3 point would shudder and shake badly. It would only stop if I let mower down all the way or sometimes raise all the way up. If I moved lever extremely slow it did not shudder. Fluid level is fine. Power shift works fine and no problems with loader. Any ideas?

Larry, The hitch is not getting enough oil from the hydraulic pump most likely due to a high pressure leak to sump. The first place I would check being you said it had a loader on it is the loader control valve. If your tractor loader has a independent (loader) control valve to run the loader, temporarily take it away from the tractor hydraulic circuit (unhook and cap the ports on tractor) to see if your three point hitch comes back to normal. If your hitch function works normal what is happening is the loader control valve when in neutral is letting pressure oil from your main hydraulic pump return to sump when it shouldn't. If you find this is the case some older loader valves were convertible for either open or closed center hydraulic systems and the sealing ring that converted the valve from one system to the other may have failed causing the condition that you have. The sealing ring / packing is located under a large hex plug with a letter C stamped on it on the side of the loader control valve and can be replaced. Being your loader works fine I really doubt that there is any thing wrong with your tractor. If you have more information post back. Good Luck, Dave W.
