I've refurbished a 1948 Model 51 sickle mower but I can't figure out where to attach the chain that is used to lift the end of the bar when the tractor tow bar is raised. The chain passes over a pulley on the left side of the mower and the angle of the pulley suggests the chain might be attached to the seat. Or could the chain be attached to the left lift arm ?....there is an extra hole in the lift arm. If anyone has a suggestion I would truly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

The tractor drawbar should be locked, and the chain attaches to the left-hand lift arm. You would be well advised to get an operator's manual for your No.51 mower. You can get one by calling 800-522-7448.
