I am having a problem with overheating with my 2440, I can run about 25 min. and then the needle will move into the red area. I plan on doing the following.
1. Blow out and clean the radiator and screens
2. Flush out and clean the radiator and block with cleaner.
3. Install new antifreeze and water pump lub.

Am I missing anything with this approach? What else should I be doing? Also having trouble locating the block drain, was the drain replaced when the engine heater was installed. Thanks for any and all help, still kinda new with this tractor and it is my first diesel. THANKS Denny

Denny, I have a European 3140 MFWD, much the same as a US 2950 and last year it started something similar. Turned out that the impeller on the water pump was plastic and where it was splined onto the water pump shaft the plastic splines had failed. So the impeller wasn't turning at all, although the fans and shaft were. Simple test, take off the rad. cap and spit into the rad--- does the spit flow away out of sight? If not there is no water circulating, and this may be your problem. Good luck,

Cleaning out the radiator and oil cooler might
help but those other things won't.Sounds like
maybe the thermostat is sticking. Those tractors
had a good cooling system,but that's getting
hot pretty fast, are you sure it's not a bad gauge?
