Need some advice about a plow shear (point) for a John Deere One bottom Plow

I called my local John Deere dealership yesterday. They no longer carry a point for a john deere one bottom plow (Model #51). I measured the plow and I need a 18 inch plow point (shear). The number on the beam is #614. The trip mechanism is located outside and is not enclosed. I was thinking about having the Amish make me a plow point (shear). The shear (point) is wedged shape and one bolt secures the shear (point) on the frog of the plow. Any suggestions, help, or comments would be appeciated! Thanks!

I just came into a JD plow myself. Wonder if it is the same as yours, have 614 stamped on the beam too. Did you have any luck finding your part?Would like to see a picture of one restored in the original colors, can you help me out? New to this restoring stuff.

Hi Ron: I saw an old e-mail the you wrote, that said you have a JD 614 single bottom plow. I was just given a JD 614 single bottom plow by my friends father. Have you done any research on yours? how many mfg'd? what years were they made? ETC. Thanks Bob

I have about 15 new plow shear points the Blacksmith use to cut the old one off and weld new ones on if you think this would work for you I can send you one. Earl Seamands Mahomet Illinois

I had the same problem. Your best bet for a replacement is scrounge a new one or have an Amish blacksmith resharpen or make a new one for you. I ended up replacing the whole bottom assembly on my #52 with a newer bottom with throw away shares. It wasn't cheap but I intend on using it.
