I have a 1952 JD A and was curious how big i can go on a disc, the ground has some clay, but we just want to work them a little bit instead of just running them around the place. I have two 6ft. disc and just was seeing if i could hook them both on and the tractor would pull it.

If you want to use a single disk, you should have no problems with a 15 foot, if the going gets tough, fold up the wings and you are back to 10 foot, To double disk, you can make two passes or overlap one-half the width each pass. Of course you don't have the advantage of rubber tires if you want to transport it.

I pull a 6-1/2 ft with my 50, you should be able to go considerably bigger than that with an A since the 50 will pull it in 4th gear. Maybe an 8 ft or so? We used to pull a 12 ft with a 720LP, so probably something in between. You could do an 8 ft no sweat, maybe even a 10 ft if it's not digging real hard.

A Boy

An "A" will handle a ten foot 4 way comfortably. A "B" hndles an eight foot comfortably. As a boy I pulled an eight foot four way with a nine foot three section spring tooth drag behind the disk with a 1950 "B".

Hope this helps

Dick
