I found my fluttering problem on my 53 G.I swapped carburators and that woke it up.This particular carb cuts up at higher rpm's.I had it apart a couple of months ago cleaning it and everything looked good then.I will be taking it apart today. Is there anything in particular to look out for besides trash? Thanks.

Holes along the main jet, there is a "hidden" passage that is commonly overlooked, play in throttle/choke shafts (leaking air)

Hey Jack have you done a pulling yet? How is the other G coming?

Drop me an email if you get the chance.

if this tractor has some hrs on it I belive Burns has the solution, air leaks around the butterfly and or choke throwing mixture off. Is there a fix for a "sloppy" carb?

I did install a new throttle shaft along with a new bushing and felt the last time I went through it.It is fairly snug but works well back and forth.I will see if I helped it tonight,I may have had something stopping up a passage. Thanks fellas.

I sprayed and blowed through the little passages on the inside of the venturi.I took the load needle out and cleaned and blowed thrugh the holes. The load nozzel was good and clean so I put it back. There was some trash where the fuel comes into the carb down in that bowl.Thought about if it still don't run exactly right after this, maybe sending the carb to Roberts Carb Repair and having a little messaging done to it.Seen some good numbers on the dyno the other night on the 53 G.Glad to hear from you Burns.

Jack I know I have shared with you that I personally have had my carb at Roberts twice. First was for the complete rebuild and recently for the 51 conversion. He does sell 6" drill bits to throughly clean out any residue, glazing, or rust from the passages. I'm afraid that air alone will not bring out some of the gobbly goop that has been living in these carbs for the past 40-50 years.
