While taking the hood off of my JD60 I learned the attachment screws had not only washers but rubber washers underneath as well. Are these parts available from JD dealerships or aftermarkets? My hood is missing some parts and I would like to re-attach it properly.

TMAC,

Glad to see you want to re-attach your hood properly, so many times you see them attached without the spacers and rubber washers and the people just bend the sheet metal tightening down the bolts. I was amazed that my local friendly John Deere dealer could still get the spacers especially and also the rubber washers and some of the special flat washers, too. You need the proper metal spacers to set the "crush" of the rubber washers.

I got all the replacement rubber spacers and metal inserts for the sheet metal on my 50 from local JD dealer. I got the part #'s out of my parts book.

I, too, wanted to put everything back original, but found that the rubber spacers at the front of the hood forced the front nose piece to sit too high. It created a gap between the frame and the bottom of the screens on the front nose piece when the hood and nose piece were lined up. It turned into a trial-and-error activity on the thickness of the rubber washers until I got all the parts to line up and fit. Hopefully, yours will fit correctly with all the metal and rubber washers in place. Good luck.
