I have a 1947 John Deere B 2 cyl. It was sitting in the shed for years and have it running. It will only start with a little ether (which I do not like to do with a gas engine). So I conducted a cylinder leakage test. The left cylinder tested 60psi max with leakage out the oil fill. The right cylinder had a max psi of 35 and leakage out the exhaust and a little out the oil fill.

I assume this machine needs a complete overhaul. There are many parts on the machine that are worn, which explains why its been sitting for thirty years, and I dont know if it is worth sticking the money into it?

What is its worth?

It prob. just needs tearing down ,new rings , grind valves and set the clearances and then it will be up to where it will run ok and that aint too expensive even tho while it is down you should check everything out . I know it is worth that much .
