Got A 60 LP that I'm trying to put to mowing.
Built a 3 pt, etc. etc. Fired it up the other day to try out the mower and noticed oil on top of crankcase. Upon closer inspection discovered BB size hole in governor case almost behind hyd. pump. Waiting on book before teardown so that I can see about timing it when it goes back together. Engine was running fine when this happened and continues to run fine, just pours oil out of hole. Anybody out there had this happen? I assume it picked up something in the gear directly behind the hole and as the gear came around it forced whatever out thru case.

by no means an expert but isnt the oil pressure line connected on top of the crankcase? the line on a 50 is about the "BB" size you decribed. You might check this for starters.good luck, david

Hole is about 2 inches higher and 2-3 inches to left of where oil line is. This hole wasn't put there by John Deere. Thanks anyway!
