G-Man I timed my hyd pump today and it didn't change a thing. It was at 12 o'clock when I pulled it apart, I set at 1 o'clock or I think it's closer to 1 1/2 o'clock as there are 14 splines on the shaft and 12 splines would divide
up more equal. My noise is a ratcheting sound that goes away
when lifting the loader or holding the bucket valve against pressure like to pop a relief valve but I don't think these have a relief valve they just build pressure and quit pumping ? I wonder if new pump piston springs would have helped ? I might have a weak one not letting the pistons all work the same ? On a few I have done after this one I used new springs just because. Well all I lost is some time , nothing ventured nothing gained. But I don't want to pull that pump out to try springs.Anyone have any other ideas that can be done easily ?

Sorry that didn't help you. I definitely would have installed new springs. To be honest, we don't even bother rebuilding pumps here anymore , if we can help it - we've been bitten on some before that came back. We usually just get the guy to buy a new pump - it's not that much more expensive in the long run. I know the JD "experts" out there are probably going to say that you can rebuild those pumps and have no problem, blah blah blah. My own experience with a pump out of an 8450 had me removing it three times because it keep blowing out the quad-ring on the shaft. Finally the third time I went over the inside of it with a magnifying glass and found a small crack in one of the pumping cylinders that under pressure was allowing high pressure oil in and putting more oil in than the little case drain tube could take out - so we ended up installing a new pump anyway.
So anyway, that's why I don't have too much experience with the actual guts of those pumps - I've only been into a couple, and that was 5 years ago. Good luck.

It does work fine and has a loader on it. I just don't like the racket and it is probabaly
more noticable as this is a gas tractor. I was willing to try anything short of pulling the pump as it does work fine but I don't know if it will suffer in the long run.
