I start my 730 on vapor and crack the liquid if I have some pulling to do, other than that I let it run on vapor. That was a good question...

I have a 50LP, and we used a 720LP when I was a kid. Start it on Vapor only (to keep the regulator from freezing), then switch to Liquid once it warms up enough to get warm water to the regulator. It will run on Vapor all the time, but will get more power and the proper mixture on Liquid once it's warmed up.

If I start mine on liquid and let it idle for very long, it will freeze and act like it's running out of gas. I have to let it sit for about 5 mins to thaw back out, then it will start.

You are supposed to start it on vapor and then run it on liquid. The only advantage with liquid is it gives you more power. I have a 3020 LP and usually just run it on vapor to save fuel.
