I have a very nice 36 A that runs great but I just can't seem to get the starting sequence right.

I either choke it too much resulting in cylinders full of gas or too little. I have good spark so it just shouldn't be this difficult to start.

Can anyone give me some pointers. If I can't figure a better way I will be coming back asking questions about converting the old gal to electric start if thats even possible.
Thanks

Bud , I am very new to this game, but I will give you my twocents. I struggled with my B for quite a while, until I tryed starting her WITHOUT the choke. It starts on the first hand over now almost every tyme, cold or warm.
I set the throttle at 1/8 and when I pull her thru the first compression she goes.
I fought her for weeks giving her some choke half choke way to much choke, tons of choke, half throttle full throttle no throttle. I think you get my point. Mine likes no choke and very little throttle. Try it once and let us know. Oh I also put in Autolite 3077, Good luck

Did the change in plugs seem to help in starting?
What plugs were in the tractor before the switch?
And finally where did you get the new plugs?

Thanks for your help.
Bud

Bud, I had W18 Champions in it. I like the 3077 alot better, it is a hotter plug. I bought my new plugs at www.brillman.com They have all the ignition stuff, check out your wires too, new ones from Brillman are $15.00 I ordered my plugs on line and they showed up in two days.

Good luck, Steve

Thanks for the lead on Brillman.I had never heard of them and their prices seem reasonable.

Just curious but is there any reason you didn't go with the Champion W89D's which they seem to recommend?
Thanks
Bud
