My 60 fan shaft started leaking oil out the front.Upon checking i found the tube going from the vacuum pump to the intake was plugged.Does this have anything to do with the shaft leak and what is the purpose of the pump. Also is the seal in the front or rear of the shaft.

The ventilator pump sucks gases out of the crankcase. The tube from the ventilator pump to the air intake is for channeling the crankcase gases back into the intake side of the engine.

Oil should go no further forward than the ventilator pump. The seal is at the rear of the shaft where it bolts onto the governor housing. No oil should be flowing through the fanshaft tube. A plugged vent tube should not cause the oil leak.
