I use Autolite 386's in my 50 and was wondering for just "putting" around if I should go to a hotter plug (if there is one)?

Go to Denso L14-U. They are better than AC, Autolight. Won't talk about Champions. Try the Denso plug you'll like them.

Dear 50 man, if the engine is in good shape with good compression and not burning oil, I would use a 386 Autolite for medium to heavy use or a 388 for light duty work. If she burns some oil, I would use the 388 in either situation. Ol John T Nordhoff in Indiana

You can use either a 388 which is hotter or go to a 3116. Both Autolite's. If you have a good coil you shouldn't have to worry about the 386's.
