Jack...the JD 70's had a part # AF1588R which is a piston rod (with yoke and clip) for a remote control cylinder

Blksmok, I don't know if Jack is still online or not, so I'll fill you in. He emailed me pictures of the parts, and they are definitely not cylinder rods. I am no two-cylinder expert, but I can't even think of where they would go on a tractor, based on the pictures. I also went back and rechecked my parts books and EPC and still no luck. Maybe Jack can post the pictures on here so some more knowledgeable people can give them the once-over.

G-Man...there seems to be a lot of JD parts that are not easily identified. When I bought my JD70 Diesel it had a sprocket (similar to the front pedal sprocket on a bicycle) mounted on the inside of the front left hub. I thought it was someone's "field-engineering" work but when I removed it there was a JD part number on it. Still haven't had anyone tell me what it was for.

Jack, I don't see a part #F1588R in the 720 book - gas or diesel either one. I did find an F1583R which is a front axle pivot bracket - basically the front frame of the tractor for a standard tread model. Do they look like that? They will be large and heavy. I also just checked EPC and there is nothing listed under F1588R. EPC is Deere's Electronic Parts Catalog - basically same info as a parts book. Clean the casting good and recheck your number.

I do think they are off front axle, off 720 D. My dad pulled front axle,to put under 70LP,40 years ago.We found them laying on the tractor.I just didn't know where they went. But it does make sense now. Thanks Jack
