A few days ago I posted that I was looking for somer broken gauges so I could salvage the lenses and attempt to salvage three or four of my originals that had cracks or crazing. Here's my first attempt. I am very pleased with the result. I tested the face paint and settled on careful application of denatured alcohol using a cotton swab. Since the original tach had been replaced, and this one had a broken cable for years, I reset it to "00000.0". I felt the major engine rebore/rebuild made that appropriate. Crimping the bezel on takes some patience, and if you roll it over you can see I was in it, but until I get an Expo grade tractor, this will do just fine. Many thanks to all who offered gauges and lenses, and especially to Blksmok who sent me some small rings and lenses and this tach ring, lens, and gasket. Next up is the Ammeter (cracked), Fuel Gauge (cracked), Oil Pressure Gauge (stained and crazed). The New Temp gauge has just arrived from Joyce Duhlin of Antique Gauges. The old one was beyond repair. Dang, I might have some needles amovin' soon ! Frank-in-Tallahassee 70D // 855
