Recently purchased a 1958 420 Utility tractor. I have noticed that the oil pressure is what I would call "slightly high", as when it is running the gauge creeps up just into the low range of the High designation on the gauge face. Is this something I should adjust for, and how much potential damage can this do if the pressure is too high?

I had "high" oil pressure on my M. Put in a new filter and the needle stops where it should.

JKC, probably nothing to worry about. [the oil pressure gauges on the 420 have a large amount of movement for a small oil pressure change]
~See if it stays there after the engine oil gets hot [really hot] after working the tractor for about 2 hours in the summer heat.
~If it "idles" with the oil pressure in the high zone after an hour or so of working, then you might have a problem like too heavy of engine oil, a plugged oil filter, plugged oil filter return hole to the sump, faulty gauge or incorrectly shimmed oil pump relief valve. ~You might want to replace the oil filter just to make sure it isn't plugged. [the 420 uses a by-pass oil filter & the less oil that flows through the oil filter the higher the oil pressure]
~My 40 runs in the high zone until it gets really hot from working, then drops back to the top of normal zone [I use 30 weight oil]...
