When the tractor is cold oil pressure gauge reads H at idle. When it warms up some it will read alittle lower. Tried adjusted presssure screw out some but didn't change it awholw lot. With engine running will read past H. Could it be possile that the gauge is reading incorrectly? And what are the spec for oil pressure at idle and wot? Thanks.

The screw adjustment is a relief valve that bypasses oil back to the sump to limit max pressure. At low speeds with warm oil the relief won't even be open. Pressure will depend on the pumps volume capacity & bearing clearances.

JDJack:

The I&T book says 25 psi at 1250 rpm (wot) and engine/oil warm. I think 25 is supposed to represent "H" on the gauge. I sometimes check the gauges out on my air compressor with an old gauge that was once purported to be "calibrated". Those gauges can be off.

Since the pressure adjusting screw applies spring loaded pressure against the relief valve leaf, it could be that there is some dirt/deposits around the leaf/pop-off valve. You might try turning out this screw even more in hopes of oil pressure/flow blowing this clear. I have had luck doing this before. It helps to have someone else watching the gauge while you do this, just in case it drops dramatically, so you can shut it down quickly. I have always like to bring the oil pressure adjustment up as my last move.

Hope this is helpful.

Its your oil in the crank case. All my tractors do that to. Your oil will be thick when you start the tractor then when it warms up it thins out. As long as your pressure doesn't go to low then it shoulded by to much of a problem.
