I rrecently bought a JD #39 mower to do trimming around Mom's Lake and today thought I'd hook it up and try it and ran into a problem. The 3 pt. and PTO hooked up okay but there are two U clamps that go around the draft arms and there is no way possible they are going to fit. The arms are 3" wide and the clamps are at least a 1/2" short. Everything seems to work alright and the bar raises when I raise the 3 pt like it's supposed to. Is it Okay to go ahead and use it like it is, or do I need to make changes? Thanks,HJ.

Make up some brackets to fit. Put in extra hole so they can be adjusted vertically. that gives you some better pitch angles for different tractor mountings. Once fine tuned the 39 is a good machine. Beats the heck out of the old #5 which was good too.
