I have a 1942 Dodge WC-54 Ambulance that I am thinking of selling. It is 95% complete and original except for the paint and gas tank. It will run and drive, although it doesn't run at higher speeds very well. It had a stuck valve when I got it, removed the head and freed it up but I think it might be a little sticky yet and causing a miss/backfire. It still had the original 9.00-16 NDT tires on it on dismountable wheels. Needs a complete restoration - I won't sell it to someone that is going to butcher it, if I should decide to sell it. It shows 25,xxx miles and a tag on the side of the block shows it to have been overhauled by the military with somewhere around 20,000 miles on it. Just looking for some input because of the amount of knowledge there seems to be about widely varied subjects on this board. Any ideas on a fair price? Should I sell it at all or just stick it in a corner somewhere until I have the time and money to restore it? In case anybody doesn't know what I'm referring to, this ambulance is identical to the one you see at the beginning of the old MASH tv show. Any input appreciated.

My Mother has an M38-A1 waiting for restoration this fall. She pretends to enjoy the old tractor shows that Dad and I attend, but she really perked up at one show which had an old Jeep in it, so we found her one. I'ts scheduled for this fall right after the Super H engine is rebuilt and the taper lock flywheel is on the 70, and just before we start the ground up resto on the Super M. Some day I'll quit spending money on tractors and get an old Army Power Wagon.

You gus need to check out the latest Two Cylinder mag. Towards the back there is an article about when Deere was developing an armored vehicle on an JD A during WWII. The intented use was for a light weapons carrier or a tank trainer. It never caught on.HJ

G-MAN; there is a great publication called Military Vehicles Magazine (www.militaryvehiclesmagazine.com)with a substantial want-ads section. Might gain an answer to your questions from there.
