I took out the ignition switch on my 49B last fall with the intention of replacing it. It is a key switch. I have found a replacement now I don't remember which wires go where. (I did write it down but, of course, I lost the sheet of paper) It's a 12 volt system. I think there is one wire that goes to the alternator, one wire to the battery and one wire to the distributor. Thought I would get some imput before I go up and getting running again. Thanks for making up for my crappy memory.

Scott, not sure we can help you unless you furnish a little more info on what type of switch, what wires you have, where they attach on the engine & what kind of alternator.
~Your "B" came with a 6 volt system & a generator, so it has been converted to 12 volt & an alternator added. With the addition of an alternator there was probably wires added to initiate the alternator charging.
~If you can explain what you have, we can probably help you.....

There are two positions on the switch. 2 wires were connected to one side and one on the other. It is a key switch one position is off the other is on. One of the wires runs to the alternator. Another runs to the battery, the third to the coil. If i wire all three of these leads together the tractor will start. Hope this is enough info, if not let me know. Thanks for the help.

Scott, an easy one after your thorough explanation.
~The [battery] power hooks to one terminal of the switch [either side] & the [coil] + [alternator] hook to the other terminal.
