I have been able to find a head gasket set, but it doesn't include the gasket between the block and the crankcase. Can i use silicon gasket maker here?

NIp, you can use the silicone gasket maker but I wouldn't recommend it. Silicon gasket maker & most silicone type sealers need to have a slight gap between the parts so the silicone remains a little thicker & doesn't squeeze to a almost non existent thickness, ~The auto companies tried silicone & in some places still use it, but had to change part designs to add stand offs & troughs in the parts to allow a decent bead thickness to remain.
~The other problem with silicone type sealers are, once a leak develops you can't just tighten the bolts some more to stop it, you must remove the part & clean the area & re-apply the silicone.
~Personally I dont use silicone on any tractor part mating surface as I hate oil leaks & if the silicone is squeezed too thin, sooner or later the silicone will fail & allow a leak

There are places where RTV can be used successfully, but I wouldn't try it there. Think about the work involved to fix it if it leaked. I think you would have much better luck with one of the loctite sealants - like the flexible gasket eleminator, etc. You can get these from your JD dealer - but if you're going to go there, you may as well get the right gasket and use that. I'm not saying that RTV absolutely will not work, just that I wouldn't use it on my tractor - I don't like pulling blocks that much. Just my two cents.

NLP, Permatex high temp rtv may work but that block gasket won't cost much. You could probably buy the gasket from your local John Deere dealer for the about the same price as the rtv. In this case I do think you would be better off using the gasket. Good luck. Let us know how it turns out. John

Thanks John
I know that I have used the rtv in a lot of places and was pretty sure it would work here too. I was also thinking that this would shave and few thousandths and would up the compression a little bit.

I've used RTV between the block and crankcase and it didn't leak at all. Use the Permatex though, I've had cooling system leaks with the cheap store brands. Mike

Don't use silicone here, you need a gasket for a couple of reasons, 1- it will absorb the shock between the two components, 2- it will last longer and look alot better, besides, that silicone can ooze out on the inside of the case, fall off and plug up your oil pump, if you need one , e-mail me and I'll mail you one for the cost of it and the stamps.
