To all those who help with suggestions for removing my 620 floor pan screws - Thanks

After accomplishing this task I have learned that the degree of difficulty depends on how much outside weather the tractor has been subjected to. The tapped hole in the top of the transmission housing is in the bottom of a counter bore making a pool for water to set in. Hence Iron Oxide in a big way. Heat and my air hammer tool did nothing. I ended up chiseling off the tops of each screw with a half inch wide cold chisel. This took me 50 minutes over all taking care not to tear up the floor pan tappered screw head seats. My friend is coming over with his welder to weld some half inch nuts to the end of the remaining studs. And then hopefully the rusted in remaining studs will come out.

I pretty much think this is the standard method for removing these bad boys.

Again thanks for all the help.

Dick

Popper:

Good deal on the screws. Yep, there's a limited number of ways to get them out, kind of like moving the wheels, only so many ways.

On that counter bore, I was wondering about a seal for those bolts. I have my platform held down with hex head bolts for now, and because it will never see really dirty field work, it will probably never get rusty again. But there is a rubber washer used to hold the sheet metal work up front, and the hood in the back. It's called A4666R, and it's kind of like flat doughnut, about 3/16" thick, with a 1/2" hole (normally it holds a spacer in there). I'm thinking about putting one of those on each bolt, then a little silicon grease, tighten it down, and I bet they never pool water again.

Just a thought.

Frank, I've used a teflon pipe sealer on the threads , i think it will work out better in the long haul. The original platform screws also used a star washer(cone shape), i believe "Correct Connection" has the parts. When i put my "Barber Green 50" together i used a small artist brush and polked plenty paint around the screws and washers.
