I recently got this tractor given to me by a family that had a farm near us . I need info as to the proper way to start it e:g what valves on , what switches should be on. The family had no ideal as they had never operated this tractor . It belonged to thier grandfather who had passed away. Any help is appreciated. Thank you. Motor turns free, Tank shows 40%. Tractor was ran last about a year ago.

Wow, congratulations! We used to have a 720 LP, it was a great machine. I have a 1955 50LP now. Just to compare some notes to the other guys, mine starts better with the throttle all the way back to idle, and if it's cold I hit the little electric primer for about 2 seconds. Also, if I start it and leave it at a very low idle, if will freeze up the regulator. When I start it, I idle it up just a little above a slow idle (like high enough where it will start to charge the battery) and it's fine. Once it warms up a little (3 or 4 mins) it's ok to idle back down to almost nothing.

Have fun, I know you'll enjoy it.

If you will just open the vapor valve until the coolant warms, it should eliminate problems with it freezing up. Then open the liquid. You never have fuel pump problems with LP and you don't get nearly as cold in bad weather when you are driving a "COOKSTOVE"

I don't know about that. I froze my butt off plenty of times on a 720 LP when I was a teenager

Frank, You must have been one of those poor farmers. The elite, like me, had a Windbreaker that kept all that "COOKSTOVE" heat in. They were even good for heating a can of pork&beans except one day I left them too long and the can exploded. I got to smell burning beans all afternoon!

Ronnie, To start turn vapor valve on. Turn switch on, clutch back, throttle about 1/3, press starter and if all else is good she should go. After tractor is good and warm open liquid valve then turn off vapor. To stop turn off liquid and let it burn fuel out of the lines until it dies. then DON'T FORGET to turn off ignition or you will have a dead batt. tomorrow. I switch back to vapor a few minutes before shut down becouse it burns vapor out of the lines much faster than liquid. The 620 is a very nice tractor.

Some guys have all the luck!! :) Why can't something like that happen to the rest of us? How about posting a pic or two. Isn't a 620 LP fairly scarce? Good luck with the old girl!!
