Will the nose and hood off a 720 Diesel fit a 70 diesel? Is it possible to put an air cleaner and precleaner from a 720 / 730 diesel on a 70 Thank you.

Andy:

The nosecones are the same part number, AF 2325 R. Not sure, but you might have to plug a hole or two if the front medallions mount a bit differently.

The pre-cleaners carry different part numbers, and mount also mount differently. I think the best way to do it might be to use the 720 aircleaner top mount casting, and swap it onto the 70D. But that's a guess on my part.

Andy.....Here's what I know about your question. The hood on a 720 diesel pony start will normally have openings for the exhaust and the precleaner. On a 70 diesel the hood will only have the exhaust opening as the opening for a precleaner (if equipped) was in the nose cone. To use a 720D hood on a 70D you would have to deal with the extra opening for the precleaner. The top of the air/oil canister would have to be changed to put a 720 precleaner and hood on a 70 diesel. Obviuosly,a 720 diesel electric start hood would not work on a 70 diesel pony start. On the nose cone, they are interchangable with normally only openings for the p/s and radiator. If your 70 had a precleaner you would need to cut a hole in the 720 nose cone to accomodate the precleaner pipe. I have both 70 and 720 diesels so I considered doing what you're currently contemplating. Good luck!
