I gave $25 for a no. 55, and worked doing chores for a day for another including the packer. One is iron tire and the other is rubber. I painted the rubber tire one. I will never do that again! Then the new driver tire cost me $180 from Miller. So, I have about $300 dollars and a week's work tied up in a plow that is worth about $250, maybe. But, I wouldn't sell it, so it doesn't matter.

I live in southeastern PA, and belong to a local John Deere club. Recently the club had an auction and one of these plows sold. Only club members were present, so there was a relativley small group of bidders. The plow sold for over $200. The plow was not restored, it was in good original condition.
I had more than passing interest, because coincidentally I had just bought two #52 plows for $100, one complete and usable, the other was missing a few items. I was encouraged by the price the #51 brought, but was told the #51s were much rarer, and obviously worth more than my #52s. Where you are located makes a very big difference when it comes to pricing this equipment, but I would expect that your plow is worth at least $250 no matter where you are, and if you restored it you might ask as much as $500 here on the internet.
This is purely based on what I have observed, not on what I actually KNOW!

What ever someone will give. I gave $130.00 for my 51 1-14" in great shape. Just had to paint it. It was all painted black and was a yard orderment. At least it had paint and wasn't rusted. Hope this helps.
