It can be done , I've seen a few . It is pretty tight between fan and radiator if you don't lengthen frame a little but it works with a few modifications . There isn't room for the 4430 ex manifold and turbo under the 4020 hood without aome fabrication .
But why can't you use a M&W turbo manifold from a 4020 it will clear . I use a 4430 intake on my 4020 with the M&W setup , it's the original engine but I don't know why the M&W won't work if you don't want to cut a hole in the hood . If the radiator is in good shape and you find the M&W fan & shroud you shouldn't have much of a cooling problem , providing you don't turn it up TOOO much , I'd say you could run 130-40hp without a problem . I have been thinking of doing a conversion like that some day too , I'd like to find a CHEAP gasser or something with a bad engine .

I know a 4440 motor will work, saw one at an
auction.JD installed a brand new motor out
of the crate in it.Didn't see much modification
other than right side engine panel,(one that
says 4020).

If it is a console 4020 it will fit with some modifications to the throttle linkage and possibly the hyd. pump drive and a shut off cable installed. Your hood will have to be modified for the exhaust, air cleaner changed and a few minor modifications. If it is an old style it won,t fit with the turbo(dash mounted remote valves) You might be better off with a reman engine, time its all said and done you will have about the same amount of money in it.

Tracy email me. I can help with your engine questions. I have a 4010 with a 7700 combine motor or 4430 motor in it-whichever you want to call it. If your radiator is in good shape cooling shouldn`t be a problem. You might look for an M&W fan and shroud or a combine 7 blade fan. If you use a combine fan you mght have to cut it down to fit inside your fan/radiator shroud. Email me and I`ll help you all I can. You can see my 4010 at the link below. Scott
